New Epworth Methodist Episcopal church at East Washington street and Butler avenue was formally dedicated on Sunday July 12. Three services filled the seating as pledges for construction reached 26000 with many new subscribers supporting the project.
Eddie Ryan, the New Castle Elks delegate to the grand lodge convention in Seattle, writes that delegates are clicking well and Seattle proves a fine host. Epworthians dedicated their church on Sunday drawing many locals and visitors to the East Side.

William C. Snipes a 23 year old from Lancaster South Carolina was sentenced to die in the electric chair for his role in the murder of Edward Gamill owner of the Blue Spruce Inn at Trevose Bucks County. Judge Calvin S Boyer denied a new trial and upheld the sentence.

Eight people died and at least 32 were injured in a series of traffic crashes over the weekend. A Philadelphia woman was run down by a horse, and in Pittsburgh a man burned to death when his auto overturned and trapped him in the rumble seat. Other occupants escaped. four were injured in the Pittsburgh crash.
Police hunt in Youngstown and Cleveland for a killer of Dave Amdur and a wounding of Joseph Blank after a Saturday shooting in Little Canada. Blank, dying at Buhl hospital, withholds statements as detectives weigh two theories including card game vengeance and a beer hijacking last week in Warren, Ohio.
In New York on July 13 a plan was expected to be announced to coordinate with European banks to aid Germany amid its financial crisis. Bankers held meetings and Basel likely to publish the agreement through the Bank for International Settlements. Credit, possibly up to $400,000,000, was requested by Reichsbank President Dr. Hans Luther, with Fed participation seen as pivotal to European central bank decisions.
Pottsville Pa July 13 Peter Gincerowski 17 Pitman held on charges of voluntary and involuntary manslaughter driving with out a license driving an unlicensed car and driving while intoxicated in connection with the deaths of Leona Holderman 18 and Margaret Erdman 18 and injury to Carl Lubold 20 after a car struck them on a highway between Valley View and Higgins Lubold in critical condition at a local hospital police say Gincerowski admitted driving the car after initially claiming to be a passenger

Henry F. Waite aged 72 of 10 North Lee Avenue died recently. Wanda Drapko aged 5 of 107 Sharp Street is listed in the death notices.
Miss Dorothy Cole of Highland avenue is hospitalized in Youngstown after an automobile crash near Coitsville Sunday. She rode in a car owned and driven by Russell Seck of 32 North Jefferson street, which collided with another vehicle when the driver slowed to view an accident. Seck suffered minor injuries. Cole sustained a broken nose and multiple lacerations and bruises.
Plane accidents across the Middle West left eight dead and six injured. Victims include two girls, two farm boys, and several listed by city such as Harrisonville Missouri, Chicago Illinois, Jonesboro Arkansas, South Bend Indiana, Waynoka Oklahoma, and Lloydminster Canada. The blimp Mayflower was destroyed in Kansas City storms and its pilot badly burned.
Lee McFate and Professor F L Orth were reappointed for four year terms on the civil service board for police and firemen by the city council. McFate dates from July 1930 and Orth from July 1931, with Dr. Loya Wilson remaining as third member. The council approved the motion four to one, Genkinger dissenting. Councilman Burns opposed dictating terms and Reeves questioned term expirations. Rev G M Landis leaves for Honey Grove for a vacation with his family.

Former Secretary of the Interior Albert B. Fall will serve a one year sentence for bribery in the leasing of naval oil reserve land.
