Mother and daughter perished in Neshannock Township fire
Melanie Keller and her daughter Jazmyn Keller died in a morning house fire on Old Plank Road. Autopsies were completed with results pending talks among Neshannock Township police the State Police fire marshal and the county coroner. The house collapsed trapping victims as crews from several departments battled flames and neighbors heard explosions. An arson dog assisted the probe with medevac on scene.

City considers Home Rule Charter step at meeting
New Castle council discussed a ballot referendum to form a Government Study Commission for a Home Rule Charter. Burley back in county for murder charges
A New Castle woman who claimed to have dated Keith Lamont Burley Jr. told reporters at his extradition hearing in Mahoning County that she knows his family but does not condone his actions. Burley, 43, is charged with stabbing and killing 8 year old Mark Edward Mason Jr. after a domestic dispute with the boy's mother. Witnesses included two of the woman's other children and the Mason brothers. Police found the boy dead in the kitchen after a confrontation that began in a New Castle fire station parking lot. Balloon Quest lights up the night for 30th year
The Western PA Balloon Quest marked its 30th annual return with a second night glow at Scotland Meadows Park. Nine hot air balloons synchronized flames to music including Queen and Baby Shark. Launches and rides are scheduled across the weekend with favorable weather and a Pyrotechnico fireworks show Thursday night.
