Paul Nadeau a 36 year old Solon Ohio driver for National Copper was attacked at Halstead Industries in Zelienople Butler County. Harrisburg UPI The Senate approved a compromise subsidy plan boosting state aid to Pennsylvania public school districts by 142 million and lifting total aid to 1.46 billion. Beav er County would gain 1.7 million Butler 1.9 million Mercer 1.5 million and urban districts receive substantial increases including 20.4 million for Philadelphia and 3.7 million for Pittsburgh.

City man flees flames as motorcycle explodes
Joseph Cubellis of 839 Vogan Street escaped serious injury when his motorcycle exploded as he wheeled it from the garage about 7:45 a.m. The bike tipped, spilled gasoline, and fumes ignited by a furnace pilot light caused a blaze. Cubellis suffered a singed arm but declined hospital care. Firefighters stopped the fire, destroying the motorcycle and damaging the upstairs, with total losses estimated at 9,000 including contents. Antique cars in the garage had minor damage.
