Soldier Rescued After Two Months Near Tam Ky Coast
In a daring two helicopter drop and rope rescue, Spec.4 Larry D. B. Aiken, 20, of New York City, missing for nearly two months from Co. C 3rd Bn 21st Infantry Americal Division, was found near Tam Ky and evacuated with skull fracture and possible brain damage described as very serious. Pfc. Robert Bohler of Austin, Texas, and a South Vietnamese soldier aided the rescue, carrying him 300 yards to another helicopter bound for Chu Lai hospital. six North Vietnamese soldiers were killed and two captured during the operation.
