Five people from Altoona died when two freight engines and a caboose on the Bessemer and Lake Erie struck a car at a crossing near Greenville. Edith and Mary Schultz and John Humor, all of Altoona, plus Garry Schultz and Florence Schultz, also of Altoona, were killed. Mrs. Schultz died later at Greenville hospital. The party, en route to Erie for a marriage, included Edith Schultz and Floyd Hamer.
