Blanche Yurka attended a party hosted by Mr and Mrs Smith Reynolds near the Winston-Salem residence where the heir to a tobacco fortune was slain. Janet Reade, a singer and close friend of Mrs Reynolds, attended. Libby Holman, former crooner and Reynolds widow, was a guest and Batchelor, Welter, hoped to persuade her to return to the stage.

Wheat Harvest Advances in Lawrence County Fields

Wheat harvesting is well under way on Lawrence County farms with the current week likely to close the annual wheat ingathering. Hazbermit avenue extension from Mercer street to the Wilmington road is rough with graveling and washboard, deep ruts.
