Rescued Yacht Crew To Arrive

International News Service reports Mrs William Roos and the six crew members of the Rosa, a 50 foot yacht, are due in New York aboard the Tuscarora after being rescued about 600 miles east of New York. John Elder Jr Dies After Brief Illness in 1938

John Elder Jr native of New Castle and cashier of First National Bank of Lawrence County for 28 years died Monday evening July 1938 after a three week illness. He was 69, born October 30, 1869, son of John Elder and Eliza J Elliott Elder, a pioneer family member active in Republican circles and local fraternal life. His death shocked the community after a long career in banking and public affairs.
