CAIRO July 6 Liberator bombers of the United States ninth air force hit Messina harbor facilities in a heavy day raid. More than 60 Liberators dropped 375000 pounds of bombs, striking the terminal rail yard engine sheds and infantry barracks. Three Axis fighters were shot down. all American planes returned safely.

Man Dies After Being Hit By Car

Michael Hasulak, 62, of Lawrence County Home, died at Jameson Memorial hospital at 5:45 this morning from injuries after being struck by a car driven by Harry W. Flannery of 508 Pearson Street near East New Castle. Police report says Flannery could not see Hasulak at a curve due to oncoming glare and could not avoid the collision. Hasulak suffered a compound fracture of the right leg pelvis and a fractured skull. Ambulance took him to the hospital.
