At Niagara Falls New York on a July 5 a French Canadian Jean Laussier of Springfield Massachusetts rolled a 12 foot diameter rubber ball containing a 10 ply fabric and rubber wall with steel frames and 32 air chambers over the Horseshoe Falls. He started at 4 15 pm and finished about five minutes later wearing smoke and being rescued from the lower river. Only two others had completed the stunt this century Mrs Anne Edson Taylor in a wooden barrel and the late Bobby Leach in a barrel of eel precursor.

Walter Scott Wigley, 54, of Moravia, died of probable heart failure while watching a ball game at Willow Grove ball field between the Willows and Jolly Old Timers.
