Pigeon Fly Aborted by Storm in Effingham to New Castle Race
A rainstorm over Illinois and Ohio halted the New Castle Homing Pigeon Club race from Effingham to New Castle, 400 miles. Pigeons led by Jimmy Brown arrived tired with no records kept. Cook and Cartwright’s birds followed. The club will resume flights in the fall with new member birds.

Two Butler Auto Club Men Hurt in Crash
Two Butler Automobile Club members were seriously injured returning from a Chicora dinner trip when steering gear failed. J. S. Campbell suffered two broken ribs and a head wound with probable internal injuries. W. S. Wick broke his right leg and sustained head and other injuries. About 150 members in 30 cars joined the run. Campbell escaped as Wick was pinned under the car before rescue.

The Trumbull Steel Co with 1 900 000 capital has awarded the Warren contract to Pittsburg’s Riter Conley Manufacturing Co. About 1400 tons of structural steel will be used. The main building exceeds 1000 feet in length and 80 feet in width. The tin house measures 500 by 70 feet. Boiler house and a few others to be built. Erection starts around October 1 and will be pushed to completion.
