Cameras Improve Security at Lawrence County Jail
The Lawrence County Jail installed twenty seven surveillance cameras this year with monitors in the control room and warden's office. The system cost about sixty thousand dollars and is supplied by NUCOM Electronics. Warden John Rowley says cameras provide constant observation, enhance safety, and allow recording for accountability and security procedures. He notes outside perimeter coverage reduces need for patrols and cites a 1991 escape that might have been captured by such a system. He believes inmate behavior has improved since installation and the county has gained good value.
