New York police believe rival alcohol selling conflicts sparked the killing of Giuseppe Micello, 35, shot six times as he walked on an east side street. A car carried two gunmen who dumped the weapon near the body and drove through a crowd of women and children as they fled. Micello was a former lieutenant of Frankie Yale and had a police record. An officer fired at the fleeing car but hit nothing.

Special to The News. In Greenville Pa on July 2 Vargil Barnes age 14 was killed instantly when lightning struck a tree sheltering him and Raymond Junk age 12 became paralyzed and unconscious. Junk revived after about an hour and was carried to Greenville for aid.

Reports claimed Charles Morrow Lindbergh as the child’s name but Mrs. Lindbergh is likely to travel to her parents summer home in North Haven Me. Ambassador Morrow has left for Mexico City and will be joined later by Mrs Morrow. The Morrows plan to return in September to Maine to join the Lindberghs.
R Willis Gormley 76 of 326 Boyles avenue died after a long illness at Jameson Memorial hospital Tuesday evening. Born August 28, 1854 in Hickory township, he moved to New Castle and led Lawrence Transfer and Storage Co for 20 years. Survived by wife Clara, son Harry L, sister Mrs Sara Coon. funeral Saturday at 3 p m from 326 Boyles avenue residence.
Harrisburg July 2 State Secretary of Banking Peter G Cameron issued a directive for all state banking institutions to submit a statement of condition as of June 30.
The House again fights the Senate over boosting the Wickersham Crime Commission fund from 50 000 to 250 000 and removing study limits on prohibition enforcement. Rules leaders push a resolution to set aside normal notice and allow consideration of the larger appropriation. The commission, funded by Hoover if Congress rejects him, remains legally defunct with authority expired June 30. Ruth Brown Strebel, heroine of the Fairfax ship disaster off Massachusetts that claimed nearly fifty lives, will resume her duties as stewardess with the Merchant and Miners Transportation Co. A horse and a rattlesnake fought to the death on H. R. Watkins ranch in Woodland California. After the snake bit the horse ten times, the horse stomped the snake to death. Both bodies were found in the Watkins pasture.
