In thick mist, German troops raided an American listening post in No Man's Land near the front trenches. Two U.S. soldiers were killed, four wounded, and one captured as the fighting lasted about twenty minutes. drafted Californian troops later bombed the raiders.
Pupils at Thaddeus Stevens School on the Eastside knit for the Red Cross to aid soldiers. They completed a convalescent robe and enough blocks for a second robe, with helmets wristlets and socks in progress. Teachers joined in with scarves socks and a sweater. Ellis Moore supports the effort with several pairs of socks already finished.
