A C Dickinson formerly of this city after a year in New York City will leave New York to reside in Sharon. He has sold his second hand printing machinery business and will devote himself to the Sharon Telegraph with his son Baldwin joining in management.

The city and the New Castle Electric Company reached a compromise settling four years of pole tax at 25 cents per pole, plus rebates for 1906 onward. The Traction company also paid overdue street cleaning charges, reducing the city’s net claim to 1484.25 after rebates. The pole tax is now paid through April 1, 1915.
A blaze discovered around 5 p m Tuesday in the attic of Frank Fisher at 3808 Fairmont avenue near city limits. Fire crews used chemicals only to suppress the fire, reaching the scene in six minutes after the Ray street truck was summoned. Estimated damage is 150 to 200 dollars, with a faulty flue cited as the probable cause.
The council met as a board of revision to consider mercantile license claims and reduction requests. Some property tax reductions were discussed but not approved. Mercantile Tax Collector Rice has drawn informations against about 20 delinquent mercantile taxpayers to be served at once before the mayor.
Charles Williams of Highland Avenue dislocated his left shoulder in a fall at his Beaver Falls workplace. He is expected to be able to return to work in a day or two.
A birthday party in New York ended in a double murder as Marion Franklin, a 30 year old stenographer from Wilkes-Barre Pa, and a man believed to be John Christopher an engineer, were beaten to death with a hammer at 145 East 114th Street. Janitor Joseph Kriegleger was arrested on suspicion.
London Jan. 27 official admittance says the British battle cruiser Lion flagship of Vice Admiral Sir David Beatty was badly damaged in a North Sea action with Germany on Sunday. Also reported Meteor towed in port possibly torpedoed by a cooperating submarine. Beatty transferred his flag to a new ship as the battle continues.
A Cincinnati minister and lay delegation invited Billy Sunday to lead a campaign there, but he deferred a decision. Sunday said the liquor fight has become national and he hopes to preach in New York, calling it the Modern Babylon and a city needing cleansing.

Former Pittsburg mayor W A Magee met Lawrence city business leaders at the Fountain Inn to outline plans to finance the Lake Erie Ohio River Ship canal. He inspected bridges and rivers noting West Washington street bridge suitability for a canal if Shenango river is used, while the railroad bridge to Republic furnace would be a barrier. a Shenango branch to Sharon would be required.
Employees of G W Johnsons Ma honing limestone quarry gathered at Lowellville town hall for safety relief and sanitation talks by John Shaffer quarry superintendent and W H Britton assistant manager. Demonstrations of stretcher work and bandaging were shown. Great interest marked the profitable evening under the Mahoning quarry safety committee.
