Laurel area opposes Kroger plaza plan before council

About 40 residents urged the City Council to block a proposed 30,000 square foot Kroger shopping plaza at the southwest corner of Wilmington and Laurel avenues. They argued the site would erase tennis courts and a playground, worsen traffic, and harm local shops. Council members questioned the rushed process and noted the redevelopment could displace recreation space and existing businesses.
