Bruno Hauptmann faces blistering cross examination as Attorney General Wilentz probes his alibi and habits. A red bound notebook clue exposes a possible miswording, while the defense contends over Sabbath rest and courtroom strategy. The session resumes Monday.
The 171 seniors of the Senior High School received diplomas at a commencement held in the Cathedral auditorium. Dr G C L Riemer delivered the address as President Daniel B Woolcock of the board of education distributed diplomas to the graduates before a large community crowd.
Ohio Governor Davey suspended Warden P. B. Thomas of Ohio State Prison and placed the facility under guards as part of a sweeping inquiry. Thomas plans to file an injunction in Franklin County Common Pleas Court to contest the action and keep his 20 year tenure. The governor also abolished the positions of Amanda Thomas as mail censor and Mrs. Thomas as matron at the prison.
On the night of the Lindbergh baby kidnapping after testifying they could not swear Bruno Hauptmann called for his wife at the bakery where she worked. Mr and Mrs Christian Fredericksens are pictured outside Flemington courthouse as the defense calls them, a line the state says harms the carpenter.
Claude Maddox, head of the Circus gang tied to Capone, was arrested and taken to the detective bureau for questioning in the Saint Valentine’s massacre case. He’s named as a machine gunner in Byron Bolton’s federal confession and was captured by Berwyn officers at his home in an expensive sedan.

They were ranked by scholastic standing.
Dr G C L Rizmer, Clarion State Teachers College, champions "The Enduring Quest for a Better Man." He says mankind has progressed through vision and mastery of knowledge, meeting needs and ideals across industry science and morals. He notes current troubles lie in economics. Continued Page Bix.

Chicago January 26. Henry W. Arden a 27 year old former Spanish professor at North Dakota State College shot and killed his mother then turned his pistol on relief workers at the Chicago avenue relief station fatally wounding Caroline Wallace and Alice Mae Irwin while also killing three women and wounding others. Arden later killed himself.
New York city spent at least 2 million dollars to remove the record 18 inch snowfalls this week, a checkup shows. The Internations News Service report notes the heavy snowfall disrupted streets and required major clearing efforts.

Chester Leslie, a student from North Beaver Township High School, returned home from Pennsylvania's farm show in Harrisburg as the first recipient in Lawrence County of the Keystone Future Farmer degree. He traveled with Director H. I. Bartges and three classmates, after visiting Penn State, and was praised for project work, leadership in local agricultural organizations, strong school averages, and solid farming investments.
Hauptmann defense plans to prove he was walking his dog in the Bronx the night the Lindbergh baby was abducted. Edward J. Reilly said a key witness would testify Hauptmann spoke with him about seeing a man at a gas station with a police dog.

Bur ton Stevens, 25, of Summilett Township Meadeville Pa, ended his life by shooting himself in the heart at his farm. He left the house for a wood shed in the afternoon and returned fatally wounded, dying within 15 minutes. No reason could be attributed for the act.

In Westchester Pennsylvania a 15 year old Pottstown youth, James H. Honey, died when his car overturned on an icy state highway south of town after a failed pass. Coleman Dupont, 16, of Wilmington, suffered minor injuries and was discharged after treatment. Both boys were en route to Hill School in Pottstown from Wilmington.

Daniel Unk, 58, of 707 Croton Ave, New Castle, was injured Friday at 5:45 p.m. after slipping from a Croton Avenue embankment into Neshannock Creek. He was dragged to safety by two young boys, treated at New Castle Hospital where his condition improved to good. He suffered an unconscious fall with head injuries and facial bruising.
