Thieves robbed the W G Myers farm beyond Princeton on the Butler highway, taking 20 chickens Tuesday night and 40 more last night. County Detective William Fleming and Late Policeman Munce rushed to Princeton after the morning report, urging immediate calls from rural residents to help catch the culprits.

The Senate elections committee will reconsider its dismissal of William B. Wilson’s contest against Senator-elect William S. Ware of Pennsylvania. Senator Reed of Missouri plans to appeal to the Senate to overturn the committee action and require specifics on alleged wrongs in the 1926 race. Wilson has 25 days to file a new contest while Ware remains seated.
The New Castle Senior High School will graduate 53 seniors in the auditorium on Friday at 3 o clock. Dr. McLeod M Pearce of Geneva College will give the principal address. Virginia Reeder and Dorothy Jean Wallace will be valedictorian and salutatorian respectively. Charles H Young will present diplomas.
Frigid weather followed a terrific gale across the north Atlantic coast. The storm, the greatest in twelve years, battered New York and cities in New England causing heavy property damage and several deaths. Telegraph lines were down as the winds eased and temperatures fell to well below freezing. In New York City the gusts reached 72 mph and damage ran into thousands with estimates in New York alone around 200000.

A southwest gale raked New England causing three deaths and about a million dollars in damage. Victims include Private Pratt swept from a ship deck near Long Island, Alvin Dagnon struck by a wind blown car in Leominster, and a Boston man killed by wind hurled onto rails. Several others were injured across Massachusetts New Hampshire and Cambridge and Nashua.
County commissioners report high winds blew many slate from the court house making it dangerous on the grounds and on Court street. Repairs will be made as soon as possible once the weather permits.
Fire swept a brick dwelling in York Springs as A B C Williams, rural mail carrier, tried to rescue his wife and two of his children. A kerosene lamp explosion sparked the blaze aided by strong winds. Ruth, 9, and Ralph, 13, escaped, while Wesley 6 Ethel 3 and an 18 month old baby perished.
Authorities probe a midnight blast under the home of Charles C. Fitzmorris now city comptroller. The two story residence sustained heavy damage but Fitzmorris and his family escaped unharmed. A second blast damaged an adjacent building believed aimed at William H. Reid.

Col Louis M. Gulick, previously in command of the Marines in Nicaragua, is reassigned to lead the first brigade in Haiti. Brig. Gen. Logan Feland takes charge of the Nicaraguan forces.
