Former City Resident Dies Fighting in France
Word reaches this city of the death of William H. Turpin known as Billy Turpin while serving in the trenches in France on December 24. He formerly lived with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Wogan and worked at the Standard Steel Car Works before enlisting. He previously spent two years in London before returning to service and was wounded, later revived, before again going to the front where he was killed. his body was buried behind British lines and the exact grave will not be known. His comrades, including a devoted friend who is now hospital bound in England, mourn his loss.
