County Rescue Plan funds fuel health welfare projects
Lawrence County commissioners distributed 1,124,305 in American Rescue Plan Act funds to seven entities for community health and welfare initiatives. Among the grants, 276,105 goes to Lawrence County Community Action Partnership for a Human Services Family Preservation Program at a renovated 15,000 square foot Frew Mill campus, providing temporary housing for families during crises to keep children with caregivers and reduce CYS foster costs. The program, supported by existing block grant funds, aims to avoid pulling families apart while not drawing on the county general fund. Another 250,000 supports Westminster College expansion to boost program offerings and services.
