A bus traveling from Miami to Tampa with 32 aboard plunged into a canal. Eleven survivors include Mrs Callie Riddle of Enon Valley, while Mrs Clara Young of Moody Avenue is believed to have been on the bus. Investigations show Riddle and Young left New Castle for St Petersburg last week.
A transport bus plunged into a canal beside the Tamiami Trail 35 miles west of Miami killing 21. Eleven others, including the driver, were rescued with many seriously injured. Rescue teams worked to recover bodies as hospitals treated survivors.
PA Newc Observes reports Billy Glenn's Gorge Ride at Cascade Park was damaged Sunday night when Big Run carried a large log across and cracked the first dip. Severe weekend weather, heavy slush, and rising streams caused traffic buildup and calls for a water level indicator on a nearby bridge.

Mrs. Christine Lilla Pasquallo aged 43 of 419 Epworth Street died at 6 15 AM in New Castle hospital after being hit on East Washington Street by an automobile driven by Frank R Gricks of 941 Adams Street She was crossing the street and Gricks took her to the hospital reporting the accident to police pending hospital notes.
Senator Royal Copeland argued that authorized flood control works could have prevented floods in Cincinnati Pittsburgh Louisville Wheeling and other mid western points. He urged prompt congress action to fund the program stating the budget could double to finish within ten years. He noted the Copeland bill provides extensive Ohio river valley projects and reservoirs above and below Pittsburgh along with Mississippi river valley works.
President Roosevelt assumes active direction of the wartime relief machine for the flood-ravaged Ohio and Mississippi valleys. Reports pour in from devastated areas as Harry Hopkins serves as liaison from the White House cabinet room on flood relief operations.
In Cincinnati on January 25 the Ohio river fire surged through the flooded Mill Creek district burning about 1.5 million dollars in damage. Firefighters halted the flames by saving two 60,000 gallon Standard Oil tanks as a film of oil on flooded waters ignited and fed the blaze.
Jefferson City Missouri January 25 United States Army engineers dynamited a Mississippi river levee across from Cairo Illinois to relieve inundation threat to the city. Governor Lloyd C Stark was advised by the state highway patrol. The waters released over 135000 acres of southeast Missouri lowlands.
Dr C B Wingerd delivered the baccalaureate address as commencement week opened for the mid year high school class. A large throng attended the service Sunday night in the cathedral auditorium drawing a crowded audience.
In Cathedral auditorium Sunday night the January graduating division of Senior high school's class of 1937 heard Dr. Charles B. Wingerd deliver the sermon with Dr. Norris A. White assisting. Inclement weather kept attendance down though a large gathering of parents relatives and friends filled the hall.

Arkansas Illinois parts hit. Tennessee Mississippi Louisiana heavily flooded with 10,000 homeless. Troops, trains, and trucks move to deliver aid and enforce flood defenses.
