Report notes New Castle hosts a users’ convention with praise for accommodations at hotels and the Scottish Rite cathedral. Lorado Taft lauds the cathedral’s magnificence while local quirks and winter ice conditions at nearby waters are mentioned along with library crowd observations.
The will dated December 5 1927 names Jane Ligo as the main heir for personal property including diamonds and a $300 monthly allowance for three years. It leaves $2000 each to Almira Home and Park Christian Church, with the remainder to the Community Chest. Other bequests include $10,000 each to Ida Dodson and John Ally, and various amounts to siblings and relatives. Executor named is attorney R K Aiken.
Havana, Jan. 24. Comprehensive plans for developing airways in the New World were presented at the Pan American conference. Ambassador Henry P. Fletcher submitted a projected treaty on commercial aviation containing thirty six articles. The draft convention, prepared by the Pan American Union, outlines authority for each nation over international air travel.
John Paul Stack former Cornell high jumper and inn manager on Smith college campus was found at a Hartford Connecticut hotel. He said he left Northampton November 1 and knew nothing of the missing freshman Frances St. John Smith. Police said there is no connection between Stack and the disappearance and they only sought information.
Max Ludwig of New Castle was chosen state president of the Pennsylvania Outdoor Advertising Association at a Monday afternoon meeting. Fred R. Holmes, Kane. Tom Nokes, Johnstown. and C. A Wolfe, Philadelphia, named officers with Al Norrington and B. F. Burglander as directors. The election followed New Castle’s bid to host the 1928 convention.
Lorado Taft, famed sculptor and lecturer, drew 700 listeners at the Pennsylvania Outdoor Advertising association banquet in New Castle. Judge E. Allen Frost and Mrs. Lilian Lilly spoke, with Fred L. Rentz hosting and praising local leaders and industries.
Miss Sophia Galant aged 16 was seized by a dark clad male on Highland avenue near Harvercroft while enroute to her parents home. She fled toward Edgewood and sought aid at the Jackson residence after the assailant attempted to detain her. Police and detectives searched North Hill for about 90 minutes but did not capture the suspect.

Police and firemen in Norwich Connecticut recovered two children and searched the Shetucket River for the other five members of the Whittaker family after an auto veered to miss a cyclist, plummeted 40 feet from Preston bridge, and drowned last night. Herbert Whittaker 30, his wife, and five children were killed in the crash.
Earl Ginsberg of Cleveland Ohio and Betty Rabinovitz of Cleveland Ohio received a marriage license. Andy Koginos of New Castle and Kate Keneklis of New Castle obtained a license. Martin Lawrence and Aline Prattee Kaylor from Butler also secured licenses.
Irish Free State president William T. Cosgrave has a White House luncheon with President and Mrs. Coolidge after placing a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery. He plans tonight to dine with Irish minister Timothy Smiddy and earlier rode at Rock Creek Park, expressing enthusiasm for his American visit.
A young woman, Miss Naomi Letzkus, 25, died when a car collided with another vehicle and struck an iron pole in Pittsburgh. E L Kramer, 25, sustained slight injuries. Schaffer and his wife and another woman were unhurt. Kramer and Schaffer were arrested on reckless driving charges and held for the coroner.
