McDevitt Brought Before Alderman On Murder Charge

McDevitt, returned from Indiana Harbor, faces murder charges in the shooting of Clark Rea in Neshannock township. He was read the information and held without bail by Alderman L C Mantz pending a hearing to be held later, and jailed with three associates. A hearing on the murder charges will follow by County Detective H Martin Lee. Alderman Mantz previously handled hearings for Charles Llewellyn and William Grimm for the March term.

Fire destroys Reuter’s barn at fair grounds race track

At New Orleans on January 23 three people were seriously burned and 14 race horses perished in a blaze that consumed H. B. Reuters barn at the fair grounds race track. Wilfred May, 19, apprentice rider, J. W. Smith of Milwaukee and Phil Catman, stableman, were badly burned. May’s prognosis was poor. The fire’s origin was not determined.
