Retired pastor Ron Eade’s dual call to church and police
Retired pastor Ron Eade served 31 years at the Genesis Church in Mahoningtown New Castle, building a food pantry, Genesis Cadets, senior luncheon programs, and a Guatemala missionary effort while also serving as one of the New Castle Police Department’s first police chaplains. He retired from chaplain duties last month and from church service on Christmas Eve 2022. Damian Williams succeeded him as pastor on January 16 of last year.

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry reports a 3.5 percent unemployment rate for December, near the lowest on record. The civilian labor force stands at 6,528,000, up 12,000 from November and 47,000 year over year. Jobs rose in five of eleven industry supersectors, led by construction with 3,700 more positions and a 1.4 percent gain, while education and health services added 4,800. Continuous low rates persist alongside a steady national rate of 3.7 percent.
