In San Diego California on January 20 1930s authorities released promotor Rogers Clark and moved to compel Dr Lewis L Jacobs to aid the case. Fingerprints on a whiskey bottle failed to link any suspect to the death of 20 year old dancer Fritzie Mann at a La Jolla cottage. Angele De Gloria is dying from a broken back after leaping from a third story window as state police join the search for an incendiary arsonist. Several firemen were injured and many residents escaped by emergency evacuation amid high city tension.

In Marietta Pennsylvania Robert Sweigert captured three alleged automobile thieves after stopping their car with a shotgun. He held the trio until police arrived. The suspects were identified as William Brennan of Troy New York, Joseph Raposs of East Boston Massachusetts, and Joseph Mahoi of Shrewsbury Massachusetts. The incident occurred after the thieves passed through Marietta damaging several machines.
