Bob Vosburg, 63, ends a 40 year journalism career at New Castle News on March 1 after 12 years as sports editor and 23 as managing editor. He will write 1 2 sports columns weekly for two more years and publish a book on Lawrence County sports legends this Christmas.

Lawrence County Judge Francis X. Caiazza ordered County Controller Richard Cini to reimburse the district attorney’s office $1,525 from the county operating fund. DA William Panella had sued after Cini refused to deposit the drug forfeiture money Panella provided, noting the funds support enforcement of the Controlled Substance Act through informants, equipment, training, and related expenses.
P J Stapleton, 37, a Democrat, officially announced his candidacy for lieutenant governor. He spoke at the Hudson Lunch in New Castle after starting in Indiana, Pa., and planned 11 campaign stops this week across Pennsylvania. Stapleton urged crime-fighting measures and touted his readiness as the sole Democratic candidate to announce in New Castle.
