Hogue rises from low point to wildland fire career
Matthew Hogue of New Castle moved from an abusive relationship and job loss to become an EMT and firefighter. Now 29, he and brother Steve co-own The Meat Guyz butcher shop while he is hired as a USFS wildland firefighter and EMT in Gasquet, California. The path was fueled by a life changing YouTube video and resilient family support.

Shapiro Set to Be Sworn In as Pennsylvania Governor

Laurel to expand school mental health services with Angelus
Laurel School Board approved a three year contract with Angelus Therapeutic Services Inc of New Castle for in school mental health and wellness services. The program runs Jan 9 to June 30 2024 funded by a 115000 Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency grant and complements the Compass counseling program. Angelus staff will plan develop and coordinate care monitor students and refer to behavioral health services while guiding families in systems of care.
