Oaxaca reports fifty one dead as the January quake devastates the city and state. Mexico City and fourteen states suffer widespread damage with many buildings reduced to ruins amid a cold wave and mass displacement. The epicenter is Oaxaca, but communications hinder full casualty tallies and assessment.

Her visit coincided with her husband’s 1930 trial for the murder of Corporal Brady Paul and his earlier alleged relationship with Irene Schroeder.
Clara Bow plans an indefinite vacation after facing a trial for embezzlement allegations against her former secretary Daisy Devoe. Paramount withdraws Bow from City Streets and casts Sylvia Sidney with Gary Cooper while Bow and Rex Bell are rumored as potential witnesses in Devoe's defense.
In a schnellen senate action without recorded vote the Nye senatorial campaigns fund investigation was allotted 50 000 dollars to conclude its inquiry. FE C Johnston of the Pennsylvania Railroad headquarters will attend a testimonial banquet tonight in the Keystone Club rooms in Pittsburgh for R W F Bowler former division engineer, who was succeeded by C W Van Nort. In McKeesport, Mrs Belle Parise is seriously ill in hospital, mother of Mrs Samuel Pletcher of East Long Avenue.
Obituary brief lists Jacob Frederick aged 65 of 1514 East Washington Street and Thomas W. Solomon aged 56 of 33 North Liberty Street in the death notices.
Four teenagers including John N. McMahon and Dorothy Berger were hospitalized after an auto veered off a slag embankment in Brackenridge and plunged 30 feet into the Allegheny River. The group, en route to a Natrona basketball game, avoided fatalities with minor to serious injuries.
Police hunt a youth about 20 after Miss Eppie P. Moss 41 was waylaid in a small Chicago garage and strangled. Her body lay before her car with a sash-weight cord looped tightly at the throat. Coroners say death from strangulation followed a desperate struggle.

General Balbo and two fliers were honored after piloting 11 Italian seaplanes 6000 miles from Orbetello to Rio de Janeiro. Balbo planned to meet President Vargas to receive ambassador status. He said the voyage showcased civil aviation and a future for commercial flights between Italy and South America.
London dispatch says the Prince of Wales and Prince George start the first leg of their South American voyage by flying to Paris for two days before sailing to Santander, Spain, to board the steamship Oropesa. They travel incognito as Earl of Chester and Lieut. George Windsor. The Oropesa has already left for France with royal luggage and new golfing outfits aboard. The princes will stay in South America until March.
Mrs. W H Howard important witness in the Bowles murder mystery was stabbed and beaten in her Portland home backyard. She cannot identify her attacker, who remains at large, as coroner’s inquest into Mrs Bowles death proceeds. Nelson C Bowles and Irma Loucks Paris are indicted in the stabbing case.
Arthur Mometer, a calm reserved banker described as a man of strength, left his door for work. He slipped on the sidewalk, fell headfirst, and after rising with blood in his eye he spoke sharply and left, his dignity apparently shattered.
Elbert Edwards charged as party to the hold up of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Eckman near Bessemer on Wednesday evening has confessed. Grover C. Porter, shot and captured, had already confessed. Both men remain in the county jail awaiting a preliminary hearing.
