Sampson Street from end of current paving to the city line will be paved this summer under the new general improvement ordinance. Councilman Reeves introduced the bill, sent to committee, with prior paving talks dating to Mayor Rentz’s administration. The measure aims to provide a direct route to St. Marys cemetery inside the city.

A city council session today opposed abandoning the P O car line from Long Avenue to the city line on Hamilton Street. The council authorized City Solicitor Robert White to oppose both this line and the Grant Street line, and he will hire two investigators to gather facts against the company's Public Service Commission filing.
In Painesville Ohio Velma West, accused of killing her husband T Edward West with a hammer, was granted an indefinite postponement. Judge A G Reynolds ordered the delay, with arraignment now expected in late this week or early next.
State police launched an exhaustive search for 15 year old Helen McQuaide of Penn township after two men in a truck abducted her on a highway near Jeannette. Helen, about five feet tall with brown hair, was walking with her sister when seized.
Westchester Pa January 16 George Lilley 17 of Berwyn High school died at Homeopathic hospital from injuries after his motorcycle skidded off Sugartown road seven miles east of here. He was rushed in by a passing motorist and died a few minutes after admission from a fractured skull. Lilley was the son of Elmer Lilley of Paoli.
More than 300 attendees joined in a ceremony at The Castlet on Sunday as 175 Gideon Bibles were placed in guest rooms. W H McDonnell presided with Gideons and local pastors present. Dr C F Flannery read scriptures and John W Gailey of Indiana Pa spoke on the organization’s origin and mission to reach traveling men.
William Dunlap 57, an employee of the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie railroad, severely burned while attempting to extinguish a fire in his daughter Mrs W J Klingensmith s home at 521 North Cedar. Fire from a gas stove explosion caused by a defective gas line led to extensive damage estimated at 500 for the house and 500 for contents. Dunlap was hospitalized at New Castle as authorities investigate the blaze and extent of injuries.

Plant three of the Lehigh Portland Cement Company may restart within ten days possibly by early next week after orders from Allen town Pa to begin as soon as repairs allow. Superintendent W H Kleckner has started urgent machinery repairs and 300 idle workers could be rehired if the plan proceeds, easing New Castle business conditions after months of shutdown due to oversupply.
William B. Wilson former Democratic candidate accuses Senator-elect William S. Vare of fraud corruption illegal registration and excessive expenditures. He claims Philadelphia and six county Republican committees conspired to defeat him in the 1926 senate race, amended in Washington with Senator Robinson of Arkansas assisting.
