Police and federal agents search for a man who robbed the Merlon Bank Main Street branch in Chicora Pennsylvania. He entered mid afternoon, claimed a holdup, produced no weapon, and fled on foot with an undetermined sum.
Harrisburg officials report that two House Democratic leaders plan a bill to publicly reveal how much money lobbyists spend to influence legislators and state officials. Speaker Herbert Mineman and Majority Leader K Lerourvis said the move aims to force accountability and would be advanced in February.

Pittsburgh union protesters faced 45 000 in fines with 100 daily penalties threatened as deputies padlocked the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers office to auction desks coffee makers and other equipment. 384 teachers reported to work while 4 400 remained on strike.
