Nuclear carrier Enterprise torn by Pearl Harbor blast
At Pearl Harbor a blast on the USS Enterprise killed 25, left 17 missing and 85 injured. Fire swept the flight deck as planes were readied for a Vietnam mission. 14 aircraft were launched before the explosion. Rescue and medical aid followed with helicopters ferrying injured to Tripler Hospital and volunteers aiding in Honolulu.

Communist troops ambushed a mile long U S truck convoy northwest of Saigon, killing eight Americans and wounding 13 as armored vehicles and air strikes repelled the attack on a 50 truck line between Dau Thieng and Tay Ninh City. A second convoy was hit eight miles away with seven enemy dead.
