A Lawrence County Planning Commission study on city structures is 80 percent complete. It analyzes land, housing and income by section, maps dilapidation levels, and supports federal aid for projects as the northwest Mahoning section is surveyed.
About 200 demonstrators gathered at the Georgia Capitol in support of Julian Bond who was barred from the legislature for pacifist Viet Nam views. Dr Martin Luther King Jr led a mass march and urged Bond be seated as Rev Ralph Abernathy warned of future action if denied.

Mary Nader, 76, of 15 N Beaver St, died at 6 20 am at Youngstown Southside Hospital from a fractured skull after being struck on W Washington St at 9 27 pm yesterday. Mahoning County Coroner Dr David Belinkey said cause is confirmed but final ruling on accident or negligence is pending. The car was driven by Domenick Scrazio of 908 W Washington St, the vehicle noted on Beaver St near the Washington St signal.
CARTAGENA Colombia A four engine DC4 carrying 59 people plunged into the shark infested Caribbean Sea Friday night just after take off from the northwestern seaport United States and Colombian aircraft aided search efforts. Early reports indicate 51 killed with survivors possibly storying in the water as authorities search through the night for wreckage and causes remain undetermined.

A general alarm fire gutted a two story brick commercial building at North Water Avenue and West State Street in Sharon today. Damage is estimated at $100,000. No injuries were reported and the cause was not determined. Firemen saved the credit bureau records.
