Tarentum Plant Burns. Valley News Suffers Major Damage

The Tarentum Valley News publishing plant suffered about 200000 dollars in damage after a gas ignited fire damaged the second floor lead casting and stereotyping area. New Wilmington Council Approves 1 Percent Wage Tax Levy

Seven members of the New Wilmington Borough Council voted by roll call to levy a one percent wage tax on residents and workers retroactive to January 1. Man Kills Self After Wounding Wife in Bridgeville

Clarence Darling 57 an attendant at Mayview State Hospital killed himself after seriously wounding his wife in their Bridgeville home near Pittsburgh. Mrs Darling affiliated with Mayview is hospitalized at St Clair Memorial with bullet wounds to head chest and an arm. Police say the shooting followed a strange telephone call as the couple faced possible divorce. two daughters from an earlier marriage were upstairs.

Boy On Sled Is Struck By Auto

An 11 year old boy, Robert Kissner, of Chambersburg RD 6, was critically injured when his sled was struck by an automobile on old Route 11 six miles south of Chambersburg. The driver, Frank L. Walek, 22, Merion, swerved to avoid the sled but the car hit him after leaving the road.

Fearful blaze kills mother and three children in Saline

A fire tore through George's bar and adjacent buildings in Saline, Michigan, killing Mrs Barbara Gibson and her children Dianne aged 3, David aged 1, and Gary aged 5 months.
