Lawrence County teachers negotiate five expiring contracts
Five school groups in Lawrence County face contract expirations at year end under the Public Employee Relations Act guidelines. Grandmother’s 43500 mile trek defies disability in USSR
67 year old Nina Bazhenova, diagnosed as an invalid, travels across the Soviet Union by foot, bike, and skis. Beginning January 1985 at Kamchatka, she has completed two thirds of a 43500 mile journey, overcoming frost, heat, and a past grave injury. Tass reports she rehabilitated herself with ice swimming and exercises to prove doctors wrong. She became a great grandmother near Kem during the trek.
