Each post will warn of approaching bandits via telephones and signals and include an armored car. Butler reports 900 saloons closed as raids continue and a slight dip in holdups yesterday.
Joe Aveni, owner of the car that killed R. C. Hines, explained at the police station he was frightened and fled to Cleveland after the Thursday afternoon accident. He said the car, driven with a companion Patsy, struck the curb near Jim Massara’s store before the crash and that he went to the scene in fear, then hid at home before returning yesterday.
The Shenango River ran near flood stage today and backed up the Neshannock River causing alarm. City sewer inspector J. J. Moseley logged 7.75 feet above normal at noon, the highest water level recorded this day.

Friday afternoon January Sir George W. Heckart of Hemlock Street found a garter snake near his home. The reptile appeared lively after warming up and this was the second live snake he found in a week. The note adds no danger as the snake was small and not able to bite.

Wallace Hoffer suffers severe injuries when a truck tumbles down a steep embankment due to brake failure. Joseph Domrosky of Pittsburgh is fined for assaulting his mother over money for a drink. Avella Pa. detective duo Joe Nei Teonst and No M. Meridik face charges for searching a house for booze. they deny the charge.
