Ellwood City Area School District voters 8-1 to hire Dr. Amy Anderson effective July 1 with a five year contract and 150000 annual pay. She currently leads educational programs since 2023 and will replace retiring Superintendent Wesley Shipley. Boots opposed salary amount preferring tiered raises.

The New Castle News will move its editorial advertising and marketing and circulation departments to 2616 Wilmington Road during the week of January 20. Publication continues at West Penn Printing on Samson Street. The Mercer Street building closes January 20 for MLK Day and remains shut January 21 and 22. The paper traces its history from 1880 and 1923 to its current 145 year legacy.
