A man fatally struck a woman and attempted suicide in Massachusetts. Police responding to the scene found the suspect dead, with investigators treating the case as a domestic incident pending autopsy results.
The headless body of Annie Walsh, 30, was found aboard the coal barge Snipe at its dock. Captain Charles Matroney of Bristol was arrested after police found a bloodstained axe and knife in the cabin. Witness Louis Therrien reported the discovery and identified the grisly scene.

An application was made to the council this morning seeking permission to place an arc light at the intersection of Lincoln avenue and Logan street. The council filed the petition for consideration.
The will of the late Robert Gracy, Westminster graduate, leaves the college five thousand dollars and a fine library of mineral specimens for its museum. President Russell is notified by letter from Newville where Gracy died. Gracy was a real estate agent. Westminster also receives a thousand dollars for a new gymnasium and endowment fund payments are progressing, with much of the subscription paid.
General Francisco Villa, northern Mexico rebel commander, is ordered hanged as a warning to bandits and traitors. Federal troops brace Ojinaga with entrenchments as skirmishes continue. civilians cross back into the United States with Red Cross aid strained.
Leland Morris of East Liverpool Ohio a Bell Telephone lineman slipped on ice while at work Friday and fractured a small bone in his right arm. He was taken to Shenango Valley hospital for treatment.
Mayor Tyler questioned city liability if a fire in the Sixth ward caused damage due to an understaffed Westside department. City Solicitor Gardner said the city cannot be held liable as maintaining fire departments is voluntary. The Sixth ward team currently has two paid men, down from three.

M V officials have begun securing right of way and franchise as part of the Mahoning Valley system. The route will traverse a dense area and create new electric railway and power opportunities. Construction to start once land is obtained and will be rushed.
The Commonwealth Trust company of Pittsburg as receiver for Penn Motor company of New Castle will present its final account for confirmation to court on January 17. The account may be confirmed nisi and become absolute in ten days if no objections are raised. Attorneys are J Norman Martin H K Gregory and W H Lemon. The plant here is not likely to operate soon.
