New Delhi January 8 Royal Air Force heavy bombers attacked the Japanese held Burmese port of Akyab on the Bay of Bengal during the night. The British communique said a number of heavy bombs were dropped with good results. Fires were left blazing at Akyab and targets nearby. Earlier British planes sank four Japanese supply boats south of Akyab. Oil installations near Chauk were hit and Rathedaung 30 miles north of Akyab also bombed.
