Chicago seeks 3800 temp city jobs draws 20000 applicants

More than 20,000 people applied for 3,800 temporary city jobs at $8.52 an hour in Chicago. Applicants waited in cold for shovel snow and other odd tasks while nine were arrested and picnic tables were burned to keep warm. Hires begin Jan. 16 for 10 weeks.
