Indians Propose Use of Fort Sheridan Housing for Needy
A group of American Indians camped at Fort Sheridan Illinois yesterday to protest poor housing for Chicagoans. They demand 200 empty fort housing units be used to shelter needy residents, according to UPI.

Viet Cong ambushed an American patrol 40 miles northeast of Saigon, killing one GI and downing four helicopters sent on a rescue mission. Four choppers were shot down as they arrived to assist, with two severely damaged and flown out. U S military said medevac helicopters carried M60 guns for defense, a policy in place for a decade.

Sky marshal program faces cut by up to eleven million
Government sources say the sky marshal program may be trimmed by as much as 11 million from a 37 million budget for the coming year. About 1,500 marshals have been trained since 1970, but reforms would reassign many to airport security or Customs rather than deplaning planes.

Howe boy on mend in Albany
Harold Robert Howe, a three year old from Slippery Rock Road 2, is listed in satisfactory condition at Albany Medical Center after heart surgery on December 20. Doctors say he is improving though his hospital stay may continue. The family has incurred over $1,000 in bills with $1,500 more unpaid.
