Officers elected in 15 Lawrence County townships
Lawrence County supervisors in 15 townships elected officers last night. Perry postponed its reorganizational meeting due to the death of Chairman Harold Rutter. Neshannock officers include Hutchison as chairman and Cater as vice chairman. Reappointed were Wallace Morris as weighing agent, Donald Nicolls as solicitor, Myrtle McBride as secretary treasurer. Lawrence Savings and Trust Co will act as treasurer. Hutchison to also serve as road inspector and zoning officer. Meetings set for 8 p.m. second Friday each month. A contract was awarded to Ashland Oil and Refining Co for 10 000 gallons of gasoline and 2 000 gallons of diesel for 1966. Shenango keeps Kendall as chairman with Tanner as vice chairman and Marjorie Bintrim as secretary. Roadmasters Kendall, Tanner and Herbert Bintrim. Nicolls reappointed solicitor. Lawrence Savings as diary. Union elected Francis Bidinette as chairman, James Fee as vice chairman, Edna Rishel as secretary treasurer, E S Hanna as assistant. Hanna and Bidinette as roadmasters. Jamison reappointed solicitor. Citizen’s National Bank depository. Meetings 7 p.m. first Monday. Pulaski elected Lewis chairman and Ketchem vice chairman. Gartner reappointed secretary-treasurer. Equal rights bill approved by House vote
Harrisburg UPI The House gave final legislative approval to a bill enabling the anti bias Human Relations Commission to petition courts for 30 day injunctions blocking sales or rentals while discrimination complaints are processed. The measure, part of Scranton administration aims, also lets municipalities finance local commissions and expand powers amid cabinet level reforms.

Scranton OKs point system for traffic violators
Gov. William W. Scranton signed a bill establishing a penalty point system for traffic violations. The plan sets point values from three to six and imposes suspensions from 15 to 60 days for speeding, with longer suspensions for higher point totals. It also raises speed limits on lesser highways and allows certain vehicle types to travel faster with oversight. A separate compromised measure would restrict driving licenses for commercial drivers.

French refinery blast kills dozen in Feyzin fire
