Emery v City reversed compensation board, so no payment to Lyle Emery's widow. Fair v City awarded judgment N O V notwithstanding verdict. city’s new trial denied. Solicitor R. M. White expects possible appeal but favors city’s chances.
Gierles Meridia of Wyoming was shot and killed in Exeter by Anna Man tis of Exeter. Chief Detective Richard Powell reported the arrest of Man tis and detectives were dispatched to the scene.
In a city hall session the board of revision and tax appeals refused action on a request to reduce Knox property assessment. The Knox building and land assessed at $21,500 and a garage at $31,650 were unchanged.
The Utah battleship, ahead of schedule, sails toward Old Point Comfort Virginia. President elect Hoover is expected to reach Washington Saturday afternoon after docking Sunday morning. Riverside, Jan 4 as the third day of the Gordon Stewart Northcott murder trial opened nine prospective jurors had been temporarily accepted all men.
