Chris Savnato formerly a state representative is sworn in as a Lawrence County commissioner. Dan Kennedy of Wilmington Township takes the oath as a new commissioner with his wife Debbie beside him.
Lawrence County officials, about 200 people including spouses and supporters, crowded the Dominick Motto courthouse as Dan Kennedy and others were sworn into office. District Judge Jerry Cartwright, re-elected to a sixth term, did not attend.
Dan Vogler retained the chairmanship of Lawrence County commissioners as he enters his sixth four year term. He led in the November race as top vote-getter and is viewed as possibly the longest-serving county official. Fellow newcomers Dan Kennedy and Chris Savnato supported Vogler’s selection at the reorganizational meeting. The board also reappointed three assessors and discussed term lengths for the board of assessment appeals. Dean was named chairman of that board.
Shenango supervisors at the reorganizing meeting approved a township manager role to oversee the merger with South New Castle Borough by January 1, 2026. They appointed Albert Burick to the position, paying $86,500, split between the township and the borough, with Burick already serving as secretary.
Pennsylvania State Sen Art Haywood a Democrat says he will file an ethics complaint against Republican Sen Doug Mastriano alleging insurrectionist acts to overturn the 2020 election. He collaborated with CREW and urged the Pennsylvania Senate to investigate Mastriano for conduct tied to a coup attempt to keep Donald Trump in office.
