Dr. Erhard Huebner, Saxony’s president in the Russian zone, told U S correspondents that Germans accept an allied occupation of at least ten years. Huebner, a social democrat, noted no belief in a return of a Nazi regime among the public. He was appointed by Americans last June and kept after the Russian takeover.

In 1945 the office of the prothonotary and clerk of courts issued 1 039 marriage licenses and filed 310 divorce applications. About 190 divorces were granted, roughly one per six licenses. Many filings late in December await airing, so total divorces may rise.
