Residents trudged through 33 inch officially logged snowfall with drifts over three feet. The Great Lakes storm stalled plows, halted trains and buses, and paralyzed New Castle and surrounding townships for 30 hours. By Saturday morning limited bus service resumed as crews cleared main streets and the city began gradual recovery.
