Chinese forces cling to shell battered positions as Japanese troops penetrate Nhiangwan at the Chiapei-Woosung line end of the third day of fighting. Communiques from Beijing claim success, but observers see limited gains amid heavy artillery duels and intense shelling around the North Section of Kiangwan.
