Cold snap grips county with a warming trend ahead

Meteorologist Tom Green called the day ridiculously cold with minus 19 degree readings at 7 a.m. The area may rise above freezing briefly today with a high near 33 but a 70 percent chance of snow accompanies the warming trend. Temperatures are set to fall again by midnight tomorrow.

Jury Convicts Man in Child Sex Case
A West Side New Castle man, Larry J. Cragle, 37, of 1223 Rebecca St., was found guilty by a Lawrence County jury on all counts in two combined cases. He faced charges including indecent assault of a person under 16, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault and rape. Bond set at 50000 cash could not be posted. he remains jailed. The trial began Feb 9 and ended Feb 12 after about three and a half hours of deliberation.
