Gulf Oil calls price hike a fine tuning action
Gulf Oil Corp says the increase is “more of a fine tuning than a price increase” as it raises home heating oil and kerosene by one cent to two cents a gallon in Kentucky and most of Tennessee. Other refiners also raise wholesale gasoline and gasoline prices regionally amid decontrol moves and rising crude costs. Eight Democratic lawmakers and groups sue to block decontrol, arguing it requires a public hearing. Gulf cites OPEC price rises and Nigeria as main crude suppliers.

Jameson Memorial Hospital announced contracts totaling 10 678 198 for phase 2A of its building program. Measel on of New Castle won the general trades, Bruce and Merrilees Electric Co. of New Castle the electrical work, Ski Construction Inc. the caisson foundations, Ray M. Fulkerson the paint and vinyl wall coverings, Shiderly and Fulkerson of New Castle the same, with McCarl's Plumbing and Heating Beaver Falls handling HVAC, Eckert Plumbing Co. Oil City the plumbing, and Hydro Security Systems Youngstown the fire protection. Two new wings on pylons will have two floors of patient rooms, with completion by September 1982 and overall project by June 1984.

DC-9 Lifted From Mud After Runway Mishap At Pittsburgh
A USAir DC-9 with 70 passengers took off through a thousand feet of mud at Greater Pittsburgh Airport after a wrong turn in heavy fog. The jet continued to Albany safely. the tail was slightly damaged and passengers were reportedly unaware of the incident. Airport director David Donahue said a longer runway was assigned but not used.

Man convicted of robbery in Parkway Street case
Derek Fuqua, 19, of 18 Atlantic Ave, convicted yesterday of robbery tied to an incident with two Parkway Street residents. Three other charges burglary aggravated assault and conspiracy were dismissed under Rule 1100. Prosecutors said Fuqua and Billy Brothers were involved. Brothers pleaded guilty but awaits sentencing.

Two Injured In Head On Crash In Slippery Rock Twp
Two men were hospitalized in guarded condition after a collision on U.S. 422 in Slippery Rock Township. Thomas R. Cullins Jr., 33, of 216 Sumner Ave, remained in intensive care with multiple cuts. Walter Shumaker, 38, of Portersville, treated for multiple cuts and bruises, had his eastbound car cross into the westbound lane about 2:30 a.m. Police reported the crash was head on.
