John R Clark planned lectures in the Presbyterian church March 25 and 26. John Wilson of Oil City visits home and praises musical talent. A marriage rumor links Robert McClenahan Jr. and Miss Paden of New Bedford. James Hopper plans to move April 1 to the Saterfield farm to stock with cows and milk for Pittsburg. A sleigh ride social at the ki House featured Prof John Wilson and a successful KOTM supper served to 50 of 69 expected attendees.
Wampum Pa February 18 1889 reports residents in Pittsburg Beaver Falls and Enon Valley with travel plans horse stock raffles and church and lodge activities. Mentions Frank Weitz trip to the Northern Pole Rev Dodds sermon Jr O U A M events brass band oyster supper and a dance with a general good time.
In Frisco a social season wedding reception for Emma Hazen and E E Hazen was hosted by Mr and Mrs Fisher at Hotel Fisher. Guests from Franklin township and beyond attended from 6 p m to 11 p m with gifts listed and social amusements in the dining hall. The couple married in Kansas January 30 and are celebrated by relatives and friends from Kanes, Stringtown, and Perry townships.

Shenango Township report lists students from Rose School who did not miss any days in the month ending February 13 1889. Names include Sadie McMillin Icie Mia Tiquel Mary Brown Nora Rigby Carrie White and several others. notes a few pupils marked as having missed days.
Protracted religious meetings continue at both churches in Hillsville. Local residents include P J S Martin and Enoch Hill in New Castle, Lettie Paden visiting her aunt, Mrs Hunt, and Mrs D I Hill returning from New Castle. Travelers Alex Miller, John Henley and daughter May, and Miss Minnie Churchfield moved about New Castle and Wilminga. Italian evangelists Nardi labor locally and will move to Carbon. Silvia Dougherty, formerly of Hillsville, now Red Key Ind., visited and returned home.

Epensura reports social notes from Edenburg with visits by Miss Della Francis of Youngstown and Miss Ada Kerr from New Castle. The Pulaski township teachers institute is set for March 1 at Beast’s Hall. The drama The Loaf will be staged Friday the 22nd with 15¢ adults and 10c children.
The Clinton Pa notes list a Friday night singing event, visits by Miss Nannie Ritchie to Enon Valley, A W Harbison returning from Kentucky, and Harry Repman from Wemcam staying with D W M. Ritchie. Wampum Presbyterian church benefit oyster supper at T D Wilson’s drew a large crowd. Commerce street sale to H Pheil of Beaver Falls noted. A literary society formed with first Monday meeting and regular Wednesday session.
Opening day sale at Brawer Cantence Wits in Youngstown and New Castle features large lots of Hamburg edging wide and extra wide at deep discounts. Firms promise abundant quantities March 4 with notable items including Swiss Skirting and Foulard Silk. prices heavily cut.
A Saturday service at First Baptist saw Rev. Tilden of Harmony and Evans City Baptist churches baptize ten Harmony members and fifteen Evans City members. A large crowd from all three communities attended.
The News telegraphed Hon. John B. Brown for confirmation of a Fourth ward alderman bid but received no reply. Morrison says Brown may be in New York or Pennsylvania and doubts any decision before leaving Harrisburg.
A young man from the Third ward swallowed a poker chip Sunday evening while not paying attention. The chip disappeared and is likely to dissolve, having been carried in his pocket for several years.
The Lawrence Council of Royal Templars of Temperance received the banner from the Grand Lodge for the largest year long increase in membership in the city.

Mrs. Weber of 816 Rivington Street died Saturday after taking arsenic in a personal crisis. She and her husband with five children had just arrived from Germany. Husband unable to work, starvation reportedly drove her to the act.
Fire at Louis Fox and Brothers cracker works in Fort Wayne Indiana destroyed large portions of the plant. Fire began about one o'clock this morning and by three o clock a major section remained burning fiercely. The works rank among the largest in the West and the loss is expected to be heavy.
