Ellwood woman found slain in Sunset Boulevard home
Mari Gebhart a 46 year old administrative assistant at Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce was found shot dead at the Sunset Boulevard home of her ex husband Gary Gebhart 53. Police say Gary shot Mari then killed himself leaving a .22 pistol at the scene. The couple had been finalizing divorce discussions and Mari was described as active in her church music life. Her pastor Rev Jim Swanson recalled her recent conversations and faith.

Lions Club treasurer raises funds for blind association house renovations
William Gray, treasurer of the few Lions Club Inc, secured a 19,300 grant from Lions International Foundation enabling nearly 50,000 in renovations at the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind local chapter house at 319 N Jefferson St. The project, begun last spring and finished in October, totalled 46,740 in repairs with Cornerstone Construction supervising. The Lions clubs in Lawrence County raised about 40,000 from Hoyt Knox Almira foundations, members, and Bowl-a-Thon events to meet the grant match.
