Lawrence County commissioners approved a contract on Jan. 23 to hire Inmate Placement Services to locate inmates for county beds. Most commissioners have not signed, and concerns were raised about the contract’s terms and the company’s contact with prisons to place inmates, plus a recent state limit on importing out-of-state prisoners.
Lawrence County learned it had lost an arbitration and then paid 220856 to the rail construction manager Group of Harrisburg. The sum covered 136000 still owed, 40800 interest to December 31, 2561 interest since January 1, 12854.74 arbitration costs and 30000 in expert fees. Previous payment of 1711 for transcripts was deducted.
